Alaska Time Zone

The Alaska Time Zone (AKST/AKDT) covers the vast majority of the US state of Alaska, the largest state by area. During standard time it runs at UTC−9, shifting to UTC−8 during Daylight Saving Time. Major cities include Anchorage — Alaska's largest city — as well as Fairbanks, Juneau the capital, Sitka, Ketchikan, Wasilla, and Kenai. Alaska is renowned for the Northern Lights, midnight sun, and spectacular wilderness.
